Technorati

August 17th, 2008

I am creating a new Technorati Profile” href=”http://technorati.com/claim/x8p3c7fvv”>Technorati Profile, since the one I had included all my roleplaying journals and such, that I don’t want included in my serious profiles. So there will be about 4 or 5 going on this one, none of which are character journals.

Censorship, Invisibility, and Conspiracies.

August 13th, 2008

Well, more censorship against hackers, although they allowed that DNS exploit to get published. But I suppose that’s what you get when you only care about things that might affect money immediately, not security. And yes, I used to attend these sort of things, and I have plenty of educational material that I wouldn’t actually use, because the use of it, not the knowledge is illegal. I don’t use that subway, so it would only be academic on my part to have the information, but why censor some hackers and not others. *headdesks*

On the upside, who needs to learn to hack anything, when you can soon become the invisible man? You know all of us geeks want this just for the dork factor. Not that it will ever be released for retail, but it’s still just gosh darn cool to invent an invisibility cloak.

In news of the OMG I never would have guessed this could happen, Defcon, a major hacker convention starts with controversy and possible legal action. And we’ve all been hearing about the new Google, so I tried it out and while I think the layout and the columns are very cute for Cuil, especially since they let you see more results easily, I’m not impressed because of the major amount of spam and pages that don’t exist that I found when searching my nickname. Maybe they’ll improve it, but I think I’ll stick with Google and GoodSearch for now.

Finances

August 13th, 2008

While I’ve never taken a Personal Loan, I do have friends who have, and I’ve considered it, once I get to a point where I am ready to work full time with my company. The economy is tight, and all of us have bills to pay, so if you’re looking to get a personal loan, this site can approve you up to $15,000. They also have bad credit loans, and payday loans, which would apply to me, because I have bad credit and don’t qualify at many places. This even includes people who have a bankruptcy, so it’s worth checking out.

Reflections of Darkness

August 10th, 2008

Reflections Of Darkness has some amusing pictures of Bush and girls in bikinis playing volleyball in Beijing. Wasn’t this the same man who said we shouldn’t send anyone over there because of their human rights violations? He’s such a hypocrite.

Also some nice photos of girls in Indonesia, along with some information about the culture, which is a great passion of mine - travel, though I’m limited in it at the moment. He also speaks about women’s issues in other countries - I think people are finally at the point where they realize we have so many liberties as women in this country that are unheard of in other cultures. Not that our system is perfect, but I can dress how I want and go out alone without a man. He lives in India, so he has a different take on things than I would have as an American, and the layout has some interesting widgets (Whereas I am still working on getting my design to upload without an error on here).

Poll / Questions Regarding Tutorials Being Created

August 9th, 2008

Quick vote from anyone who is waiting on my tutorials, more than one question.

Would you like part of them to be in video format, since I have a screen capture program, or is text enough?

Would you like one-on-one tutoring at a small fee for just about any subject? Not just computers - I have a degree in Psychology, and have tutored for math, given assistence on term papers, and consider myself fairly well-versed in many topics.

Since there are so few Encore tutorials out there, should I begin with the basics that I believe can be easily figured out given some time, just in case, or do you want me to start with the fun stuff, like subtitling, which can be so amusing if you’re looking to do a parody or an anime music video? I’m thinking of beginning with subtitling, since it’ll be useful for me, but I’m not quite sure how useful it is to any of you, so leave a comment, and let me know which to do first!

Also, if I’m asked to do the video clips along with the written tutorials, I will post on both YouTube, and on MegaUpload, so that you can save the tutorial to your harddrive for when you’re not online. My tutorials are free to distribute as long as you don’t cut the authoress information out, since I do these to help others. My tutoring is very cheap, since I also do that to help others, but it takes more time and is tailored to specific projects, so I do have to charge. I am not taking non-paid requests at the moment because of time constraints, but will let everyone know when I am - for now, the closest you can get to a request is leaving a comment on a poll such as this one.

Entrepreneur Types -

August 9th, 2008

There are many others like me, looking to own their own company, or to switch careers, and a franchise is a good way to do this if you don’t have a niche market you’re already covering. For instance, not many would want to do the same work-from-home things that I do, but might be interested in a window covering franchise.

These opportunities should be tailored to your interests, so you don’t get bored, or find yourself disappointed. Have experience in a specific field that you enjoy, but an unpleasant working situation? My father has worked with car places for many years, and so for him, a car repair franchise would be appropriate, as he’d have no interest in doing the Oriental type work that I enjoy and study.

My Franchise Path, a site offering a variety of franchise opportunities, has an amazingly wide range of such opportunities; It would be nearly impossible for you to not find something along your lines of interest, with entrepreneurial chances including those in automotive, beauty, beverage, building, remodeling, children’s products / services, education, financial, food, health, pet, photography, and sports. That isn’t even a full list! There are also specific franchises for those who can’t make a large investment to begin with, but have a strong desire to run their own small company. Having done the rat race, I can tell you, I am much happier doing my own thing, especially as I am a very self-motivated person who likes being in charge of her own life. I rather like the idea and description of having a video game franchise, since I’d get to play with the products and recommend them to customers, possibly meet people to game with on the weekends. This site really does have something for anyone looking to get a quick start.

Blogrolling~

August 8th, 2008

Please drop a line to this entry if you are interested in me reviewing and approving you for a blogroll link on either here or GhettoKitten. And as usual, I’m looking around for a blog about everything, because I’m just that varied in interests and skills. Originally intended as a site for podcasting… *takes a moment to huggle her iPod*… this blog has ended up covering several topics, from medical, to the issues regarding blogging in general, and technology about the author’s first hard drive, along with several interesting links. What I enjoyed about surfing this site is that the author is knowledgeable on techie subjects, rather than just attempting to seem so, and that the author seems honest in her opinion and information on the pros and cons of paid blogging. For instance, I had no idea about the differences between AdBrite and AdSense, so I’m glad I read that article and will be checking into it to let you know my opinion.

Oh, we all get the e-mail and questions.

August 8th, 2008

Warning: Adult material below, not suitable for minors.

Does penis size matter? Is there a difference in size between races? How many e-mails a day do you personally get with an offer for male enhancement? (I have to say, I just love the tagline on that site, you know? Place for men to talk openly about their cocks and give device advice? Someone had balls to think that up. Bad pun, I know, but too late, because you read it.) There is also far more information, with charts and research on penis enlargement on legitimate sites like Wikipedia, than I expected. Sure, the size does have a slight difference depending on race, but so does the counterpart of it on the female, so it’s a match.

It seems to be an obsession for guys, who may turn to surgery or less drastic measures, such as a penis stretcher. Only 55% of men are satisfied with the size of their organ, while 85% of women are very happy with the size of their partner. It correlates to the females obsession with weight, perhaps, since even though I’ve gained weight from the medications, I’m still found attractive, I’m very insecure. And for the record, since this is actually a thought many people have - not all women find cervical penetration to be erotic, but there are some who enjoy it very much. Discuss it with your partner, or go ahead and work on your size if you don’t have one, if you’re unhappy with the average of around 6 inches.

Issues.

August 7th, 2008

Okay, yes, I do realize the design is still plain, but I am getting an error everytime that I try to modify the .php templates. I will attempt to upload completely different ones via FTP later tonight, so I hope you get to see the new designs, and since it is completely impossible to find tutorials on using Adobe Production Studio, I am writing some for those of you who are lost, starting with Encore. Lovely program, but not quite user-friendly. Still, I won’t use anything else now to make my AMVs (Anime Music Videos) or anything else for the web, except for the occassional Flash commission. <3 to those of you dealing with me during the current transition, especially Aislin.

Inspiration…

August 7th, 2008

Park West Gallery, or more technically, Richard E. Williams and Park West Gallery, has some amazing designs and artwork if you are in need of a muse to open up your mind before you work. This is the type of place I go with sketchbook in hand when I feel as if my work has become flat, because the work of others is an incredible connection, and a source of valuable information about humanity and what lies beyond it in our heads.

One of the new things sites are including are links to YouTube accounts, which is a nice feature, since you know we all use it, and video has transformed the ability to express. Williams’ work itself is so very calm and tranquil; I especially enjoyed viewing Shells IV, and the intricate patterns within it. My son was more drawn to the tropical fish, as he was born inland unlike me. I have seen the ocean, and used to surf on different coasts, but he’s missed out on that. The work here evokes memories of my time along the beach, and the inner child who still longs to remain in the ‘green room’, never coming out of that shell of freedom and peace. While there aren’t many pieces shown, the four are beautiful, and there are videos on YouTube. Fair warning - you’ll be missing the ocean if you’re like me and have moved inland.

Sick…

August 7th, 2008

I am sick and supposed to rest, though noone will quit stressing me out. I’m working on some Adobe Encore tutorials, and hopefully will upload some of the rather interesting photos I got before my precious camera broke. D=

Stick with me, I’m just shaky and cold and weak at the moment, but still around, despite not seeming to be. Also had to change my phone number because of harassment, and it is unlisted, so good luck with that. I both love and hate technology at times like this.

Diet Pills, Science, and Over-Advertising

August 5th, 2008

Xenadrine RFA-X, as most of you probably know is a diet pill. I wasn’t aware before visiting this site, however, that the name had just been bought out by the owners of HydroxyCut, and it really is true, what is said on here, about how aaggressively marketed these pills are. It’s bad enough we live in a society where we can never do enough in the time given, we’re never pretty enough, and even if we have most things handed to use, we don’t earn any self-esteem by getting them on our own. So many young women don’t know what it feels like to not care about their looks because they earned something important without them, and this is most especially true during the teenage years. Luckily, where I live, these sorts of things are for adults only, and I’m not against diet pills. I used to use them myself for the energy - they banned the particular kind I used, and I’m looking into using them again, so I like sites that have research on lots of different ones along with the prices, since I have many allergies, want to know additional benefits, and am usually broke. If you’re looking to lose weight, and not because of societal pressure but because of health issues, or just because you would like to for yourself, check this out.

Ranting again~

August 5th, 2008

The aids epidemic is worse than we thought. Scary to think on that, so therefore I won’t be talking about it.

I have several tutorials I’m working on, but have to finish some work that was paid for first.

Also, this pisses me off, and I suppose I won’t be traveling any time soon now that I’ve found out that they are allowed to take your laptop without any cause for suspicion and hold it at an undisclosed location while they copy the contents and send it off to other agencies. I HATE THE PATRIOT ACT AND I AM ASHAMED TO BE AMERICAN AT THIS POINT. Gee, even though there’s no reason for it, go ahead and invade my privacy, and make sure that every single thing about me is backed up and given to everyone, for NO FUCKING REASON AT ALL.

Yes, I’m upset. I had a trip planned which I will now be cancelling, and apparently unless I travel by car, which is impossible with gas prices, all of my trips are canceled until that idiot Bush is out of office and hopefully someone retracts some of his rediculous policies.

To think, at one point before I was disqualified, my only goal and passion in life was the hope of one day working with the FBI. To think of all the years I wasted working towards that goal and becoming perfect agent material, only to be told I’m not good enough, so that I can watch incompetence and evil take my rightful place. To think of the changes I could have made, the lives I could have helped, and how it was taken away, and then to hear of this… I cannot stand it. It tears me apart.

A guide for getting your laptop through customs. Don’t know how well it works, but I am genuinely upset.

Why is this even news?

August 4th, 2008

Now, Obama is a racist, right? How did anyone EVER believe that race wasn’t an issue in this election? With his name being Muslim, and the fact we’ve never had an african american or a woman run for office, both sex and race have been huge factors this year. I’m rather fed up with the media this election year, and how the issues have been treated. Everything has been personal rather than staying on the issues, and they are clouding the general voter’s mind to the point where they don’t know where the candidate actually stands, only what Obama’s minister said, and what Clinton has done in the past. Everyone already knows who I’m voting for, so I’m not going to turn this into a campaign post, but it’s getting insane when people PRETEND that it never occurred to them that Obama being black just MIGHT be a political hot button.

Is it funny that…

August 4th, 2008

This domain belongs to my ex-husband, and perhaps we could have used a Unity Candle? We didn’t’ have a fancy wedding… Maybe one day I will, but we just went in front of a judge in ratty t-shirts and jeans, since it wasn’t well thought out. It’s difficult for a geek girl to settle down, honestly, but I would like a nice wedding, preferably with a guy who will get out the soldering iron and work on random projects with me every night. I had a relationship like that once, and man, the things we got done and the fun we had, but we didn’t have a fancy wedding either, just a simple one. I did have a lovely handfasting for my first, though we didn’t know about companies like this back then.

Redecorating…

August 2nd, 2008

I am always redoing my room/office/studio, whatever you may wish to call that eclectic room I live in, and I have a different look going on. My lovely tiger rug doesn’t quite fit any longer, since I’m going more for an asian hacker look. I did find a site with Cheap Rugs, however, and surfed it, since, let’s face it, the shag from the 50s that looks like bile doesn’t work for me. Quite the selection of visually interesting alternative carpeting, including Area Rugs. There is also a clearance section, for those of you working within a budget like myself. You can search by size, which is very convenient instead of only seeing the size once you’ve found one you enjoy, only to find out it is too large or too small. You can search by color, by shape, or by material; For example, they sell silk, traditional wool, and synthetic Rugs.

The site is very pleasing and easy to go through. The Rug Deal Of The Day has a $200 piece marked down to $75, so this is a promotion you could check out until the one you want comes up under this category. I can’t say I know much about rugs or how they are made, but this site really is detailed, including information on the knots (Points Per Square Meter), the exact type of wool, the style, the country of origin, and a list of the colors included, right down to the shade for those who need an exact match. A 15 year manufacturer gaurantee is also offered, in case you’re worried about high traffic and keep a lot of company. After all, when I got my exotic leopard print rug, I had everyone in to see it, and there’s no point in getting a nice piece if you’re not going to share it with company.

DNS Exploit Update

August 1st, 2008

Well, at least the guy who wrote it, had it used against him. DNS attack writer became a victim of his own creation, and his site was redirected to a fake page that served up a Google page in one HTML frame along with three other pages designed to automatically click on advertisements. Karma, anyone?

Employment Apraisal Software

August 1st, 2008

Manager Assistant
looks like some very useful software for large companies with many overwhelmed managers and employees. There is a demo on the site, so that you can test out the features; unfortunately, my company isn’t large enough to require this since basically I’m the owner and main employee, and would fire anyone that didn’t deserve a slot. But for larger organizations, this software lets you track and evaluate your employees quicker and more easily, taking some of the pressure off of managers.

Mini Rant

July 31st, 2008

I’m sorry, but when I subscribe to a magazine, I expect to get to see it before everyone else, not look at it longingly on the shelves for TWO WEEKS before it arrives at my house. Boo, Otaku USA. I adore your magazine, but I should have gotten to read the articles and watch the DVD half a month ago instead of waiting… and waiting… and waiting.

Which reminds me… I still haven’t gotten the DS games from Japan I’ve waited a month and a half on. I could have learned so much from those by now.

Cards~

July 31st, 2008

Christmas Cards - Yes, it’s about that time again, to start thinking about the holiday, and I don’t know about you, but part of being a geek is loving to have as many options as possible and to be able to customize everything I own, so why not make the right choice when I’m mailing things out to loved ones? And again - a huge selling point for me - recycled cards are offered. Yay, eco-friendly companies!

I like the cute polar bear card, but I would be more likely to order recycled ones to support the cause. There are several categories, from business to personal, and they offer Thanksgiving cards as well, but those are the only holidays up so far. There are general cards, however, if that’s what you’re looking for.
